President of the Indian Workers Association G.B, Leicestershire has passed away

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Mr Amrik Singh Shoker, President of the Indian Workers Association G.B, Leicestershire, who passed away peacefully last night dated 22 November 2022.

Amrik Singh Shoker was suffering from cancer for the past few months and died peacefully with his family by his side. He always continued to participate and take a leading role for the betterment of the whole working class. Despite his serious illness, he represented the IWAGB in solidarity at the RMT Union’s picket line in Leicester, the Baker and Food Allied Workers Union and our Stand Up To Racism demonstration.

He was a committed lifelong anti-imperialist, anti-racist, trade unionist and social justice activist. His contribution and commitment will always be a source of inspiration. It is a great loss for his family, friends and the Indian Workers Association. He will always be missed during the struggles for justice and the Indian community will miss him dearly, as their friend who was always ready to help others.

IWA GB pay tribute to Amrik for his work; standing for equality, justice and the long struggles he fought for the working class. Our Heartfelt condolences are with Amrik Singh Shoker’s family and friends during this difficult time. He will always be missed in the struggles for justice and we will never forget all his hard work and dedication.
