The 3rd Excellence in Education Awards hosted by Intelligent Minds Trust (IMT) was held at World Hindi Secretariat, Mauritius on August 23, 2023.
The Awards emphasised the importance of collaboration and innovation in education, uniting education and policymakers. The event was presided over by the Hon’ble President of Mauritius H.E. Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun G.C.S.K; Hon’ble Vice Prime Minister of Mauritius Mrs. Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun G.C.S.K; Hon’ble Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance of Mauritius Mr. Mahen Kumar Seeruttun.
Mr. Virendra Sharma, Member of Parliament for Ealing Southall, United Kingdom, was honoured with the ‘Special Guest Award’ by the aforementioned honourable guests and IMT Trustee Mr. Rajesh Bajaj and Mrs. Pooja Bajaj. Mr. Sharma’s tireless dedication to education earned him this outstanding recognition.
Speaking at the awards Mr Sharma said:
“Education resolves all problems, it lifts people out of poverty, destroys prejudice and empowers equality. The value of education is without question and without equal. In my own life I have seen the transformational power of education, now as a policy maker and member of the International Development Select Committee, but as a boy through the work my mother did setting up the first girl’s school in my home village of Mandhali.
I am honoured to be recognised here today by the Intelligent Minds Trust, and grateful to His Excellency the Honourable Prime Minister for his kind words and the award.”
