Bhangra Pioneers Anjaana Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award
BRADFORD – On Saturday, 20th December 2025, the UK Bhangra Awards celebrated the industry’s finest, culminating in a historic moment for the Bradford music scene. The legendary band Anjaana was presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing over five decades of cultural and musical influence.
Founded in the 1970s and led by Satpal—who celebrates his 50th anniversary with the group this year—Anjaana has been a cornerstone of the British Bhangra movement. Their 1985 masterpiece, Nachna Pia, recorded in Bradford’s historic Little Germany and featuring the late Kuldip Manak, remains a seminal work that continues to inspire artists worldwide.
Beyond the studio, Anjaana is defined by their commitment to philanthropy, frequently performing benefit concerts for both local UK charities and international disaster relief. As they look toward 2026, the band is set to release highly anticipated new music, continuing their mission to keep Bradford at the heart of the global Bhangra map.
